74-year-old Woman Robs Bank Following Online Scam Loss

On April 19th, 74-year-old Woman Ann Mayers was arrested in Hamilton, Ohio in relation to an alleged armed robbery at a Fairfield Township bank earlier that day. She has been charged with aggravated robbery and tampering with evidence and is currently detained on $100,000 bond pending her initial court appearance.

According to reports, Mayers reportedly discarded items of clothing from her vehicle as she left the suspected crime scene. When police later apprehended her at home, a handgun was reportedly found in her car. In bodycam footage of the arrest, Mayers is heard admitting involvement to investigating officers.

Authorities are looking further into claims that Mayers may have been the victim of a scam herself, with relatives stating she had been sending money to an unknown individual. If true, this adds complexity, as her actions could have stemmed from desperation following financial exploitation.

Fairfield Township Police acknowledged the possibility the 74-year-old Woman was influenced due to vulnerabilities. Detectives are examining the situation with sensitivity, as solutions are pursued through appropriate legal means. The wellbeing of all individuals deserves compassionate consideration.
