Controversial social media personality and cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, has been unable to meet the bail conditions set by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The Lagos State Command of the EFCC arrested Bobrisky on Wednesday for alleged abuse of the Nigerian currency, including spraying and mutilating Naira notes.
According to Dele Oyewale, the spokesperson for the EFCC, Bobrisky’s failure to meet the bail conditions has been confirmed. The EFCC is committed to upholding the dignity of the naira and is taking the matter seriously. Although the investigation is still ongoing, Bobrisky will soon be charged in court.
Earlier, the EFCC announced Bobrisky’s arrest, revealing that he was apprehended at Pinnock Estate in Lagos State. The commission stated that he will face charges in court in the near future. The allegations against Bobrisky include the abuse and mutilation of Naira notes, as well as the spraying of Naira notes at various events.
In a statement posted on its social media platforms, the EFCC explained that Bobrisky was invited for questioning following a video report of him flaunting and spraying large sums of Naira notes at the premiere of a movie in Lagos. The investigation also revealed that he had allegedly committed similar offenses at other event centers and parties.
Bobrisky voluntarily appeared at the Lagos Zonal Command of the EFCC for interrogation and provided his statements. Once the investigations are concluded, he will be formally charged and brought before the court for legal proceedings.
