The Katsina State Police Command has reported success in various operations carried out between January and March 2024. According to spokesperson Sadiq Aliyu, five suspected bandits were killed during this period. Furthermore, around 100 kidnapped victims were rescued.
Additionally, the police recovered 658 cattle that had been rustled. Mr. Aliyu provided these details during a press briefing at the command’s headquarters.
In total, 51 cases, ranging from armed robbery to kidnapping and homicide, were reported. 30 of these cases have been charged in court so far. The police also arrested 64 suspects in connection with the incidents.
Among those arrested were nine armed robbers, 11 murder suspects and 29 alleged rapists. Another 19 individuals faced charges including intimidation, disturbance of peace and theft.
The spokesperson remarked that neutralizing the bandits, rescuing hostages and returning stolen livestock demonstrated the police force’s commitment to protecting Katsina residents.
While threats persist, the command’s successes provide some reassurance to communities. Ongoing security operations aim to sustain this positive momentum and disrupt criminal activities more fully.
Ensuring that these gains are supported by stronger law and order could help achieve long-term state stabilization. There is no doubt that the locals will welcome more advancements in the war on insecurity.
