In a devastating incident along the ldi-Mango road in Ore, Odigbo council area of Ondo state, two siblings lost their lives after being crushed by a truck. The incident occurred on Saturday around 10:25 am.
Sources claim that the victims were killed when a truck loaded with sand struck them while they were riding a motorcycle. According to eyewitnesses, the victims’ negligence while driving the highway caused the accident.
It was reported that the victims lost control of their motorcycle and collided with the truck as it approached from the Okitipupa route. Following the incident, the truck driver fled the scene, while the truck itself was taken to the police station in Ore.
According to Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) state commander Ezekiel Son-Allah, the victims’ overspeeding was the cause of the collision. He appealed to motorcyclists to exercise caution and avoid overspeeding to prevent such tragic accidents.
The bodies of the victims were transported to the mortuary at the General Hospital in Ore, while the crashed vehicles were handed over to the police in the Ore Division for further investigation.
This heart-wrenching incident serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and practicing safe driving habits. It is crucial for all road users, including motorcyclists, to prioritize their safety and the safety of others on the road to prevent such tragic accidents from occurring.
