The Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (EKSU) Alumni Association has demonstrated its commitment to promoting academic excellence by awarding cash prizes worth 10 million naira to outstanding graduands at the 2024 Convocation ceremony.
During the event held at the university auditorium, Engr. Dipo Bamisaye, the global president of the association, highlighted that the gesture was aimed at encouraging undergraduates at the institution and demonstrating that hard work in academics is rewarded.
Engr. Bamisaye emphasized that the Alumni Association, under his leadership, will continue to make a positive impact on the lives of students and the institution as a whole.
“One of our objectives is to motivate students to be more diligent in their studies, and these prizes will also provide relief to parents. Winning a prize can serve as a starting point for graduates to establish themselves and is a form of empowerment,” said Engr. Bamisaye.
Commenting on the Prize Award, Chief Soji Ehinlanwo, Chairman of the Endowment Committee of EKSU Alumni Association, stressed that the winners were selected based on merit and careful consideration.
Chief Ehinlanwo further stated that the prize-awarded initiative is here to stay, as the Alumni Association is committed to sustaining it.
Several alumni association members sponsored the prizes in a variety of categories.
The Alumni Association presented Olanipekun Oluwadamilola Precious with the Best Student Prize, giving her a total of 1.8 million naira (N1.8m). This prize recognizes the best student across faculties and departments.
In total, fifty-seven (57) prize awards were presented to deserving students and staff members in recognition of their outstanding achievements in this commendable learning incentivization initiative.
Dignitaries in attendance at the convocation ceremony included Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, the Governor of Ekiti State and University Visitor, Dr. Tunji Olowolafe, the new Chancellor, Prof. Edward Olanipekun, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Akin Oyebode, Commissioners, and leaders of the Alumni Association.
