In a well-deserved recognition of his exceptional performances for Real Madrid and England, Jude Bellingham has been honored with the esteemed 2024 Laureus World Sports Breakthrough of the Year prize. The 20-year-old English midfielder has made a remarkable impact since joining the Spanish giants from Borussia Dortmund last summer.

Bellingham, who has already netted an impressive tally of 21 goals, once again showcased his brilliance in Sunday’s thrilling El Clasico victory over Barcelona. He scored the decisive late winner that secured a memorable 3-2 triumph over their fierce rivals.

The Laureus World Sports Awards ceremony, held at the Galeria de Cristal in Madrid, also celebrated the achievements of other outstanding athletes. Novak Djokovic, the tennis sensation, claimed the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year title for an unprecedented fifth time. Djokovic’s remarkable feat was attributed to his triumphs at the Australian Open, French Open, and US Open, solidifying his position as the leader with 24 grand slam men’s singles titles.

Expressing his gratitude, Djokovic shared, “I am incredibly honored to have won my fifth Laureus World Sportsman of the Year award. Looking back to 2012 when I won it for the first time as a 24-year-old, I am very proud to be here 12 years later, reflecting on a year that brought me and my fans a lot of excitement and success. Returning to Australia last January and winning my 10th title was truly thrilling. It is a tournament that holds a special place in my heart and set the stage for an incredible 12 months. I owe a great deal of my success to the incredible team behind me and the inspirational rivals who have always pushed me to be the best version of myself.”

The 25th edition of the Laureus World Sports Awards, held on April 22nd in Madrid, served as a momentous occasion to celebrate the exceptional talents and achievements of athletes from around the world.
