President Bola Tinubu has bestowed the prestigious national honour of Grand Commander of the Order of Niger (GCON) upon the revered Awujale and Paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Dr. Sikiru Kayode Adetona, in recognition of his exceptional contributions to national development.

The President, represented by Vice President Alhaji Kashim Shettima, presided over the ceremony held at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye. The occasion marked the celebration of Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona’s 64th coronation anniversary as a Paramount ruler and his 90th birthday.
As part of the event, the Oba Sikiru Adetona School of Governance was inaugurated at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State. Additionally, President Tinubu announced that the management of the school would be transferred to the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos, following the royal father’s bequest.
President Tinubu hailed Awujale as an exemplary royal figure and a stalwart of Nigerian democracy, lauding his unwavering dedication and courage in advancing national development goals. The esteemed monarch’s integrity and resilience have earned him widespread admiration across the nation.
