The entire Ijebuland was lit with pomp and celebration recently as its paramount ruler, the Awujale, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, marked his 90th birthday and 64th Coronation Anniversary. The event was marked by the commissioning of the School of Governance Studies, donated to the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ogun State.
The commissioning ceremony, which also featured the launch of a book entitled, “Reinventing Governance in Nigeria, The Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona Model,” was graced by important dignitaries from all walks of life. Among them were former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Governors Dapo Abiodun and Jackson Ademola Adeleke of Ogun and Osun States respectively, and past governors of Ogun State, Olusegun Osoba, Gbenga Daniel, and Ibikunle Amosun.
Total telecommunications services provider, Globacom, represented by Mr. Adeniyi Olukoya, felicitated the Awujale, Oba Adetona, on the twin celebration, Awujale’s 90th birthday and 64th Coronation Anniversary. Globacom, in a goodwill message to the traditional ruler, prayed for his continued good health, happiness, and prosperity.

“You have prioritized the well-being and continued unity of your race in an indelible manner,” Globacom noted. “You have been the custodian and preserver of the cultures and traditions of the Ijebu people in ways that have propelled them to global reckoning. Posterity will be kind to you and the values you brought to bear on the cohesion of the Ijebu people all over the world.”
Globacom added that the monarch’s wisdom, grace, and leadership qualities had been sources of inspiration to the company and Nigerians at large.
