Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has addressed the backlash she received on social media for openly supporting President Bola Tinubu. In an interview with media personality Daddy Freeze, Abraham clarified that she never asked anyone to vote during the campaign and election seasons, but simply expressed her views.
“I didn’t campaign, and I didn’t ask anyone to vote. I think the problem is that maybe I’m too open and straightforward. Maybe I shouldn’t have said anything. People learn every day, and maybe I should have followed what others did and not said anything,” she explained.
Toyin Abraham further expressed her love for her fans and the desire to be transparent with them. However, she acknowledged that after this interview, she would refrain from discussing the topic any further and allow people to voice their opinions.
When asked about President Tinubu’s performance in office after one year, Abraham declined to comment, stating that she is not a politician and does not want to discuss politics.
The actress faced significant backlash from Nigerians on social media, with many holding her accountable for publicly supporting the president during the elections. Critics argue that the president’s policies have not benefited the public, as the price of the dollar has risen, the cost of fuel has increased, and the state of the economy has worsened.
It is worth noting that Toyin Abraham previously broke down in tears on June 4, 2024, during a heated exchange with social media users, expressing her frustration with the constant disapproval and negative comments she received.
