Bola Tinubu, the President of Nigeria, has been re-elected as the Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) during the 65th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government. The session took place in Abuja, Nigeria on July 7, 2024.

Tinubu’s re-election comes one year after assuming office as the Chairman of ECOWAS in Guinea-Bissau in July 2023. In his acceptance speech, Tinubu expressed his gratitude and commitment to serving the region’s interests, stating, “I am honored to continue this democratic journey with all the esteemed members of this organization.
