Former Nigeria and Chelsea ex-footballer John Mikel Obi said in an interview that, “If you decide you want to play for England, stick to it, sit and wait, if you don’t get a call up, you don’t get a call up, but don’t wait till you’re 29 and then say you want to play for Nigeria, We’re not second options”.

These goes to many Nigeria talented footballer who waited for a long time to be called-up by the England National team and wasted all their time without representing their soil country. This is why we should respect Alex Iwobi, the Ex Arsenal player choose Nigeria without all these shenanigans of waiting for the call up from English FA.

Mikel Obi made mention of being not a second option, Yes, Nigeria is not an option when your desire team refuse to include you into their team the next thing is they revert to the last option which Nigeria. Mikel has spoken the fact about players ignoring their home ground country when it comes to international duty.

There are lots of Nigeria born talented players who decided to play for England and today they’re nowhere today, the likes of Tammy Abraham , Dele Ali and so on they now later saw the reason why their home ground country is important, Mikel said, Stick to it but don’t wait till you’re 29… How is dele Ali now, and how many international games has he played ? This is what Mikel was talking about, stick to it and wait, if you don’t get a call up, that means you don’t get call up.

This is a wake up call for all Nigeria footballs all over the world… don’t sit and wait till the time runs out. Make use of the time you have now, and make the sure you make the right decision when it comes to your footballing career.
