For a long time now, children’s have been shouting “Up Nepa” in excitement as soon as the lights come on, reveling in anticipation of catching their favourite cartoons and movies. But when the lights go off due to power cuts down, these children rain curses on them both young and old. NEPA officials really causes frustration across Nigeria.
I recall the year, 26th June 2018 Nigeria made it to the World Cup and faced Argentina in a crucial group stage match. The Nepa power outage occurred just minutes after kickoff, leaving an street and community frustrated and disappointed. It was shameful for our beloved country we call father’s land can’t provide things that should be one by them.
Generators had become the go-to solution, and even fuel stations were eager to attract more customers. It crossed my mind whether Nepa and petrol stations are not having an agreement to do businesses for financial gain, just for the petrol station to make their sale just for the football match.
Electricity has become so unreliable in Nigeria that many people have stopped caring. In order to fully enjoy life in the country, having a generator is considered essential. Even those who are both poor and middle class are making plans to acquire one for their daily lives.
In summary, the utmost priority of our leaders should be to address Nigeria’s issues including improving roadways and electricity systems, providing quality education, creating job opportunities and enhancing overall security within the country. May God bless Nigeria.
