Kaduna Police Nab 39 Suspects, Tailor For Producing Russian Flags

In Kaduna State, police have detained 39 people suspected of participating in recent protests. This includes a tailor accused of producing Russian flags for the demonstrators. ASP Mansir Hassan, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the arrests and the recovery of various items, including 38 Russian flags, one Chinese flag, two catapults with a bag of stones, and several vandalised properties.

During the protests, a range of properties were damaged. Notably, a Hilux vehicle belonging to KADVS, a Toyota Yaris owned by a journalist, and the KASTLEA office in Zone 6, Zaria, which was set ablaze. The situation escalated when protesters used stones, catapults, and other weapons against the police and security agencies attempting to restore order. The law enforcement officers employed minimal use of tear gas to diffuse the hostility and managed to calm the situation.

In response to the incident, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Audu Dabigi, praised his officers for their professional conduct amid the unrest. He emphasized the importance of adhering to the curfew imposed to maintain safety and order within the state. Dabigi warned that anyone found violating the curfew would be subject to arrest and legal actions.

Furthermore, the police are urging residents to support the law enforcement agencies during this critical period. The imposed curfew is a measure aimed at protecting lives and properties while facilitating the swift restoration of peace in Kaduna State. It is essential for the community to cooperate with the authorities to ensure stability and security in the region.
