According to Lindaikeji’s blog report on today’s news, Afrobeats star Rema, whose real name is Divine Ikubor, donated 105 million naira to a Christ Embassy church in Benin, Edo State. He did this because the church had been kind to his family when his father passed away.

Rema made the donation on Sunday, September 1, 2024, after being invited on stage. He thanked the church for its support and guidance, stating:

– He was not there for fame but to honor God.
– He felt it important to give back as the church embraced and prayed for him, helping him stay true to his faith.

He pledged:
– 40 million naira for the church’s infrastructure.
– 20 million naira for the Rhapsody of Realities program.
– 25 million naira for the infrastructure of the teen’s church since he came from there.
– 20 million naira to support widows in the church.

Afrobeats star Rema shared that when he was eight and lost his dad, the family felt lost and alone. Church members Pastor Joy and Pastor Thomas helped his mother set up a shop, which helped them get by.

Afrobeats star Rema is currently on a homecoming tour in Edo state and is set to perform at a big concert. He arrived in Benin last Tuesday and attended the opening ceremony of a new 6,000-capacity Edo Arena named after him by Governor Godwin Obaseki. He also visited the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, at his palace and entertained the monarch.
