The operatives of Osun Amotekun have successfully arrested a man named Babalola Timothy, aged 35, for allegedly kidnapping a married woman, Sofiyat, aged 35. The suspect is said to have used a charmed ring to control the victim and force her to leave her marital home in Ode-Omu, Ayedaade local government area of the state, and relocate to his place in Modakeke, Ife-East area office, where he kept her captive for three weeks.
During this time, the suspect allegedly locked the woman in a room, engaged in sexual acts with her, and provided her with food. The incident occurred in early March, and on March 29, the suspect decided to release his victim, driving her to the Campus area before dropping her off.
The victim, in a brave move, raised an alert that caught the attention of Amotekun operatives in the area. She shared her harrowing ordeal, prompting the operatives to take immediate action. They were able to trace the suspect to Sekona, where he was apprehended on Monday, April 1.
According to Bashir Adewinmbi, the Commandant of Osun Amotekun Corps, during the interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime. He claimed that the victim had initially approached him for assistance in finding customers for her palm oil business. However, when she rejected his advances due to her marital status, he sought the help of a cleric, who provided him with charms to control her.
Following his arrest, the suspect has been handed over to the Department of Security Service for further interrogation and prosecution.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining vigilance and reporting any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
