Wike-and-Clark

Chief Edwin Clark, a leader of the Ijaw nation, has called on the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to arrest the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike. This request comes after Wike threatened to cause trouble in states run by governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

During a speech at the PDP secretariat in Port Harcourt on Saturday, where the party was holding its state congress, Nyesom Wike warned PDP governors to stay out of party matters in Rivers State.

In a press conference on Thursday, Clark criticized Wike’s words, saying they showed a lack of respect for President Bola Tinubu, who appointed him. Clark described Wike’s comments as uncontrolled and potentially treasonous because they could lead to violence in the country.

Clark also mentioned that people like Omoyele Sowore, the Presidential Candidate of the African Action Congress, and #EndBadGovernance protesters had been arrested for similar actions. He urged the Inspector General of Police to arrest the FCT Minister and make him take back his statements.
