The federal government has approved Tuesday, April 9, and Wednesday, April 10, 2024, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid El Fitri celebrations.
The Interior Minister, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo announced this in Abuja on behalf of the federal government. In his congratulatory message to Muslim faithful, the minister commended their successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan through fasting and increased devotion.
Dr Tunji-Ojo urged Muslims nationwide to imbibe the virtues of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) like kindness, love, tolerance, peace and good neighbourliness. He called on Nigerians to sustain the unity needed to achieve peace and strengthen the fabric of our nation.
According to the statement, the minister prayed that the blessings of Allah be upon all Muslims during this Eid El Fitri holiday, as well as peace and prosperity for Nigeria. With this declaration, the public and private sectors can plan activities to mark the occasion while workers also enjoy the statutory rest days.
I wish all Muslim brothers and sisters a very happy Eid El Fitri filled with spiritual renewal and togetherness with loved ones.
Once again, I extend my warmest wishes to all Muslim brothers and sisters for a very happy celebration. May this celebration bring us closer to our faith, strengthen our bonds of togetherness, and bring joy to our hearts. Eid Mubarak!
