Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has responded to people criticizing him on social media. He says their insults have no real reason behind them.
El-Rufai mentioned that he doesn’t care about how his posts are misinterpreted. He believes his critics judge him without understanding and are biased.
He shared his thoughts on his verified X.com account on Saturday.
“You can interpret my posts any way you like. I don’t care,” he wrote. “Insult and abuse me all you want, but it won’t change anything. What is meant to happen, will happen, God willing.”
Recently, many people online criticized Former Kaduna State Governor for a post he made last Saturday. In that post, he talked about the problems of envy and hatred among Nigerians.
He mentioned the rise of Kamala Harris as the U.S. Vice President and possible Democratic presidential candidate as an example.
“The main problem in Nigeria is the lack of competence, ability, and dedication among political leaders,” the ex-gov. wrote. “Countries succeed or fail based on these qualities.”
“We need to fight the issue of envy if Nigeria wants to reach its full potential and lead the Black Race. I hope this will happen one day.”
Reacting to his post, Banks Omishore, an aide to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, criticized El-Rufai. He said El-Rufai did not set a good example as he showed envy and hate towards former Senate President Bukola Saraki.
El-Rufai has faced political challenges since leaving office. The Senate did not approve his nomination as a minister in August 2023.
In March 2024, Governor Uba Sani, who took over from Nasir El-Rufai, stated that he inherited a large debt of $587 million, N85 billion, and 115 contractual obligations from El-Rufai.
Additionally, in July 2024, the Kaduna State House of Assembly accused the ex-gov. of diverting N423 billion of public funds during his time in office.
