The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced the closure of Kentucky Fried Chicken’s operations at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, over claims of accessibility violations.
Spokesperson Obiageli Orah confirmed the directive takes immediate effect today, March 28, 2024, in line with Lagos statutes protecting People with Special Needs. Section 55 guarantees equal entrance and fair treatment regardless of disability status across public spaces.
FAAN’s action follows a social media complaint by passenger Debola Daniel highlighting alleged discriminatory conduct towards those with reduced mobility.
Upon the Managing Director’s orders, a high-level team comprising heads of Public Affairs, Regional Operations, and the International Terminal conducted a prompt probe.
Findings supported the discrimination accusation leveled against KFC. As a result, FAAN is revoking permissions for the outlet where the offense occurred.
