Nigerian chef Hilda Baci is celebrating a significant milestone as she commemorates the first anniversary of her Guinness World Record achievement in 2023. Baci took to her Instagram on May 12, 2024, to reflect on the memorable cooking marathon that made history.

In her post, Baci expressed her excitement about the upcoming five-day celebration to mark the occasion. She fondly recalled the start of her record-breaking attempt, which began on May 12th last year and lasted until May 17th.

Acknowledging the tremendous effort put forth, Baci expressed gratitude to her dedicated team, especially the Alpha team and heads of departments, who played pivotal roles in realizing her ambitious dream. With approximately 100 individuals contributing to the success of the cookathon, Baci emphasized their indispensable role in bringing her vision to life.

In May 2023, Hilda Baci captivated audiences by cooking for over 100 hours, surpassing the previous record set by Lata Tondon of India in 2019. Her culinary journey attracted thousands of Nigerians to Amore Gardens in Lekki, where they sampled her delicious creations and cheered her on throughout the endeavor.

Baci’s record-breaking feat received widespread acclaim from Nigerians both locally and internationally, with support pouring in from various quarters, including celebrities, influencers, politicians, and well-wishers. Despite facing timing errors during breaks, Baci officially secured her place in the Guinness World Records in June, with her record time recorded at 93 hours and 11 minutes.

Although her record was later surpassed by Alan Fisher in November 2023, Baci’s achievement remains a testament to her culinary prowess and resilience.
