Ban of an upcoming movie featuring actresses Nancy Isime, and purdah.

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has strongly advocated for the prohibition of an upcoming movie featuring actresses Nancy Isime, and purdah, commonly known as the Niqab, wielding dangerous guns.

In a recent statement, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, the Executive Director of MURIC, condemned the film as a blatant display of “Islamophobia taken to the extreme,” deeming it as “satanic, repugnant, and deliberately provocative.”

Akintola expressed grave concerns over the film’s potential to depict Muslim women as violent criminals, thereby fueling public animosity towards them. He emphasized the urgent need for authorities to intervene to prevent any potential unrest that may arise from the movie.

Furthermore, MURIC’s call for a ban is part of a larger effort to resist what they perceive as continual assaults on Muslim customs and symbols. Akintola underscored the importance of maintaining peace and allowing the appropriate authorities to address the situation effectively.

Muslims are right to call-out Nancy Isime over the misuse of the Niqab; What she did was outright insensitive & the fact that she’s yet to take down the post is disrespectful. Ignorance is no excuse. The Niqab isn’t just a piece of clothing, it has symbolism. Our beliefs may differ, but it’s important to show respect towards other people’s religion or way of life

The directors & producers of this film must cancel it and tender an apology to Muslim Ummah. If non-Muslims would mind their businesses there wouldn’t be any problem in this world, ’cause we Muslims never disrespect anyone’s faith. But they can’t live a day without looking for our trouble. Being tolerant doesn’t mean watching people disrespect you and not doing anything about it, that’s weakness and we’re not weak. If these people do not do the needful then legal proceedings will follow.

In response to the public outcry, people like Latifat Adewunmi Jumah have expressed their displeasure with the offensive nature of the movie’s content. They have highlighted the inappropriateness of using the niqab/hijab filmed by Nancy Isime as a costume for criminal activities, stressing that such actions only serve to perpetuate negative stereotypes and disrespect Islamic attire.
