The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has declared the position of the Super Eagles head coach vacant. This announcement comes after a failed contract extension talk between the NFF and the former coach of the Super Eagles, Jose Peseiro.
Details of the NFF’s announcement:
- The contract of Jose Peseiro, the former coach of the Super Eagles, ended last week, and there was no agreement to extend it before expiration.
- Both parties failed to agree on the wage that Peseiro would earn, with the coach demanding $120,000 per month while the NFF offered $50,000, which was deemed insufficient.
- An improved offer of $80,000 was sent to Peseiro’s representatives, but it was not accepted.
- As a result, the NFF declared job vacancies for the position of national team coach, inviting interested applicants to lead the Super Eagles in their next campaign.
- Alongside the vacancy for the Super Eagles head coach, the NFF also announced a vacancy for the position of head coach of the Golden Eaglets, which was last headed by Nduka Ugbade.
