The declaration was posted on Haramin’s official Facebook page, a site that is well-known among Muslims worldwide. Thus, on Wednesday, April 10, we will celebrate Eid-Al-Fitr, which ushers in a new Islamic month.
In their statement, Haramin confirmed, “The crescent moon was not sighted in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.” They urged everyone to make the most of the remaining moments of this blessed month, engaging in actions that please Allah and praying for the acceptance of their fasting, prayers, and good deeds. Additionally, they expressed hopes for good health and the opportunity to experience many more Ramadan seasons.
However, Nigerian Muslims are advised to await the announcement from the Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Sa’ad Abubakar, later in the day. The final decision regarding the Eid-Al-Fitr celebration in Nigeria will be made based on local moon sighting reports.
The Federal Government of Nigeria has already declared Tuesday, April 9, and Wednesday, April 10, as public holidays to mark the joyous occasion of Eid-Al-Fitr. This will allow Muslims across the country to come together with their families and communities to celebrate the end of Ramadan and express gratitude for the blessings received during the holy month.
