In a distressing incident, gunmen have abducted Sheikh Quasim Musa, the Chief Imam of Iyara land in Jimu Local Government Area of Kogi State. The National PRO of the Iyara Development Association, Mr. E.K. Adebayo, confirmed that the abduction took place on March 25, 2024. Suspected herdsmen reportedly stormed the cleric’s residence, firing shots indiscriminately before whisking him away.
Expressing deep concern, Adebayo denounced the act as cowardly and unfortunate, particularly during the Holy month of Ramadan. He called upon the relevant authorities to take immediate action and ensure the safe release of Sheikh Quasim Musa. Adebayo also urged the community to engage in fervent prayers for a swift and positive outcome.
SP William Aya, the spokesperson for the Kogi State Police Command, confirmed the incident and assured the public that the Commissioner of Police had deployed tactical teams, including the Police Mobile Force, quick response units, divisional police, local vigilantes, and other security agencies, to rescue the Chief Imam unharmed.
As the situation unfolds, it is crucial to remain vigilant and support the efforts of the security agencies in their mission to secure the safe release of Sheikh Quasim Musa.
