Acknowledging the citizens’ constitutional right to peaceful assembly, the Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Ahmed, stressed the importance of vigilance due to the recent insurgency activities in Gujba LGA, including incidents like an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion.

The statement highlighted the delicate security situation in the state following past challenges with insurgency and underscored the need for adequate precautions to prevent any further security threats. Abdulkarim warned potential criminals seeking to exploit the protest as a cover for their nefarious activities that they would face legal consequences.

To ensure the protest is conducted smoothly and safely, the police spokesperson outlined specific requirements for protesters, including disclosing planned routes, assembly points, expected duration, leader contact information, and security measures to deter criminal people from hijacking the peaceful protest.

In conclusion, the Yobe State Police Command emphasized its commitment to fostering peaceful expression and upholding public order while advocating for responsible and lawful protest activities. By working together and prioritizing safety measures, the community can strive for a peaceful and harmonious environment conducive to constructive dialogue and positive change.
